Roofers in St AlbansOur base
Our home patch. St Albans has everything from Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the city centre and Fleetville to the 1930s semis of Marshalswick and the postwar estates out towards London Colney. Slate and clay tile roofs here are often a century old, and slipped slates, tired lead and crumbling chimney stacks are the jobs we see most.
Hatfield's new town housing from the 1950s and 60s is reaching the age where concrete tiles, felt and battens all need attention at once, while Old Hatfield has older tile and slate roofs with chimneys to match. We re-roof, repair and replace fascias and guttering across Hatfield, Birchwood and the Ryde.
Watford's Victorian terraces off the High Street and the interwar semis of Oxhey, Garston and Leavesden keep us busy with chimney repointing, ridge and valley work and full re-roofs. Flat roofs on rear extensions and garages are the other regular call here.
Bushey and Bushey Heath have large detached and semi-detached houses with big, complex roofs: hips, valleys, dormers and multiple chimneys. We handle the leadwork and slate repairs they need as well as full replacements.
The new town estates of Hemel Hempstead, from Adeyfield to Bennetts End and Grovehill, were roofed in concrete tile in the 1950s and 60s and many are being re-roofed now. Old Town Hemel and Boxmoor add older slate roofs and Victorian chimneys to the mix.
Borehamwood's postwar housing is mostly concrete tile with plenty of flat-roofed garages and extensions, which suits EPDM and GRP replacements. We cover Borehamwood, Elstree and the surrounding roads for repairs, re-roofs and guttering.
Interwar semis and bungalows make up much of Potters Bar, with hipped roofs, bay windows and chimneys that are now 80 to 90 years old. Re-roofs, hip and ridge repointing and flat roof work on bays and extensions are the common jobs.
The garden city's 1920s and 30s houses have distinctive steep roofs in clay tile, and the later estates to the east are concrete tile. We match tiles carefully on the older houses so repairs blend in, and re-roof where they are past saving.
Harpenden's large Victorian and Edwardian houses have big slate and clay tile roofs with lots of lead detail, and the owners tend to want them done properly. Roof surveys before a sale, chimney work and full re-roofs are what we are usually asked for here.
Radlett is mostly large detached houses, many with complex roofs and extensions added over the years. We repair and replace pitched and flat roofs, fit Velux windows and sort the leadwork that ties it all together.
Just down the road from our base, London Colney's mix of older cottages and postwar estates gets the same quick response as St Albans itself. Repairs, gutter work and re-roofs.
Between Hemel Hempstead and Watford, Kings Langley and Abbots Langley have a lot of 1930s and postwar housing with hipped roofs and chimneys. We cover both villages for repairs, re-roofs and fascias.
Redbourn's village centre has older tile and slate roofs with cottages that need careful, matching repairs, and the estates around it are more modern concrete tile. All within fifteen minutes of us.
Wheathampstead and the villages between St Albans and Welwyn have a mix of period cottages and 1960s and 70s housing. We handle everything from a single slipped tile to a full re-roof.
We are based in St Albans and work across Hertfordshire: Hatfield, Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Bushey, Radlett, Borehamwood, Potters Bar and the villages in between. See the areas page for the full list, or put your postcode in the checker.
How quickly can you come and look at my roof?
Get in touch and we will arrange an inspection quickly, usually within a few days and sooner for an active leak. One of our TrustATrader reviews describes us on site for an urgent tile repair the very next day. The inspection and the written quote are free and there is no obligation.
Can the price change once you have started?
No. The price in the written quote is the price you pay. If the scaffold goes up and we find something genuinely hidden, we photograph it, show you and agree any extra with you before anything else is done. Our reviews make a point of it: Jack sticks to the original price with no hidden fees.
What does the 15 year guarantee cover?
Every job carries a 15 year guarantee and you get it in writing when the work signs off, not as a verbal promise. Jack talks you through exactly what it covers at the quote stage, so it is clear before you commit to anything.
